Our Story
HOYMAS (Health Options for Young Men on HIV/AIDS and STIs) is a Kenyan Community Based Organization (CBO) founded and registered April 2009 . The organization seeks to work towards promoting the health, human rights, well-being and economic empowerment of key populations. HOYMAS currently implements programs in Nairobi, Nyeri, Kajiado, Tharakanithi, Kirinyaga and Meru counties in Kenya.
The organization takes pride in its membership of over 10,500 members from the above mentioned counties. HOYMAS has adapted digital innovations to increase demand and service uptake of Sexual Reproductive Health Services e.g. telehealth, social media platforms.
WHO DO WE WORK WITH?
Hoymas (Health Options for Young Men on HIV/AIDS & STIs) as a community-led organization has a strong partnership with other key population-led groups in Kenya, Africa and globally. We oppose the criminalization and other legal oppression of sex work and support its recognition as work. HOYMAS is working closely with KESWA (Kenya Sex Workers Alliance) to decriminalize sex work in Kenya. This will repeal the laws that criminalize both sex work and same sex activities thereby allowing both MSM & MSW to enjoy their rights to the fullest.
